The vision of the forum is for Hindus and Christians to work together with mutual respect to strengthen relationships, understanding and learning of each other’s faith.
The Forum comprises of prominent representatives from the Hindu and Christian community and there are regular Board meetings to discuss developments between the two faith communities.
The Co-chairs of Hindu Christian Forum are the Rt Revd Richard Atkinson OBE and Ramesh Pattni.
Bishop Richard Atkinson was appointed Bishop of Bedford in 2012. Previously he was Archdeacon of Leicester where he was the founder Chair of the nationally recognised St Philip’s Centre for Study and Engagement in a Multi Faith society. He is a member of the Church of England Presence and Engagement working group and a Trustee of Near Neighbours. Richard has an MA in Interreligious Relations with a particular focus on Religious Literacy in the Public Sphere.
Ramesh Pattni holds several key posts in inter faith relations He is currently the Chair of the Interfaith Committee of the Hindu Christian Forum and Secretary of the Council of Dharmic Faiths. He is also on the Board of the Chinmaya Mission,UK; Faith Based Regeneration Network and Faiths and Beliefs in Further Education. A graduate of Biochemistry and Physiology from Kings College, London, Ramesh Pattni further holds an MBA from the International Management Centre; an MA in Psychology of Religion from Heythrop College, London and an MSt in Study of Religion from Oxford University . He is currently pursuing a DPhil on the psychology of Yoga and is developing a model of Well-being and flow in positive psychology from Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.
